大昔、幼稚園の頃、

まだ団地に住んでいた頃、いや、もう少し大きくなってからか？

ヤマハのエレクトーン教室というものに通っていた。

というよりも、通わされていた。

外で遊ぶのが好きだったのに

教室に通うことがとても苦痛で、

すぐに行かなくなって、

先生がうちにきて教えてくれたような気がする。

全然上手くならなかったが、変な音を出すのは得意だった。

わざとなのか、そういう耳なのか？

エレクトーンのいろんなスイッチで音を変えるのが好きだった。

話がそれた。

この曲は

ジョンアップダイクの短編小説に

出てきたライン、

またはただ単に単語が気に入ったのか？

が元になっている。

何の小説かは覚えていない、ウサギシリーズではなかったはず。

1987年頃に書いた時から、

その青年は成長したけど、まだキーを外して歌うのが得意なようだ！
