初期ファーイースティンは、毎週日曜日に、

私のキングスクロス・ノースダウンストリートで練習していたと書いた。

でも、ドラムセットはなかったのでコダマくんがいたころのファーイースティンは、

キングスクロスのボロ・スタジオで練習していたんだと思う。　

コダマくんが日本へ帰っていった後、ドラムレスになって、

全員がキーボードを弾くバンドというアイデアが浮かんだ。　

キーボードっても、貧乏学生たちに買える立派なキーボードなんて

揃えられなくて、自分がもっていたカシオトーンや

あっちゃんからもらったチープなおもちゃキーボード、

そして、デンマークストリートで購入した大昔のローランドのシンセサイザー

（ ROLAND SH-2000）を私、トシオ、サクラちゃんで演奏をした。　

昔の記録を見ると、こんな感じで割り振っていたようです。

最初は、ボーカルを入れてYMOみたいに、おしゃれなテクノ風にしたかったんだけど、

そんな技量は全然なかった。　

ミニマルなドラムとベーストーンをシンセでループさせて、

カシオトーンのヴィブラフォントーンで

チョロチョロとメロディを奏でていった。

３人でステージに立った時は、すべての音を４TRKのテープレコーダーに

入れ込んで、エフェクターをかけて、同時再生させて演奏した。

バックグランドのスクリーンで8mmフィルムを流していた。

8mmフィルムは、自分たちで撮影、編集したものだ。

ロックぽくないのがよかったのか、一部のロンドンの

アンダーグランドシーンやミュージックプレスに受けた。

その後、exitの時に親交のあったChe Trading / i records から

「kasiotekemusik / Kamikaze 」のシングル盤をリリースされることになる。　

メロディメーカーに記事がのったり、まだ生きていたジョン・ピールがシングルを

受け取って、気に入ってくれたというはなしも聞いた。

（ラジオで流されたとCheのマネージャーは言っていたが、真実はわからない）

そう、実験音楽のNOVAやexitでやってきたことや友達関係は、

全然無駄じゃなかった。　

人生に無駄なものは何もない。

いろいろな感謝ばかり。　

いい子だな俺って！

この曲「Northern Light Shiva」も、

初期ファーイースティンでやっていたが今回は歌詞を変えた。　

日本に帰ってきてから家族の一員になった愛猫のみょみょやチェリー、

自分の家の小さい庭に咲く薔薇、

そしてSF小説「夏への扉」のイメージを

重ね合わせて、この曲が完成した。

「チェリーの薔薇の秘密」という猫たちが主人公の物語にも繋がっていく。

From the Kings Cross’s North Down Street

to The Secret of the Cherry Rose from

I wrote before that early times of Fureasteen,

we were practicing at Kings Cross North Down Street.

But there was no drum set.

So when Kodama-kun: the drummer was there,

I think we were practicing at King's Cross Shabby music Studio.

After Kodama-kun returned to Japan, we became drumless,

Then The idea came out that all band members played only the keyboard.

Even though the bright idea with the keyboard, we are poor students

and we cannot afford expensive synthesizer.

So we finally align…Align the right word? …

The cheap toy keyboard I got from A-chan, Casiotone

And an ancient Roland synthesizer we purchased on Denmark Street.

Looking at the old records, it seems that we were assigned this way.

Sakura: Casiotone 100 Tonebank

Toshio Yamanaka: Casiotone Mt-65 and pedals

Tomokazu Date: Casiotone SK-10, Rolland SH-2000,

Pedals and mixing board.

At first, I wanted to put in a vocal and put it in a fashionable

techno style like YMO.

But we don’t have such skill.

Loop minimal drums and bass tones with the synth,

In the vibra tone of Casiotone

I played a trickles melody on top of it.

When we were on stage with 3 people, We put all sounds into 4TRK tape recorder.

We inserted all and put an effect, and played it simultaneously.

On the background screen original 8 mm film running.

The 8mm film was shot and edited by ourselves.

Maybe it was good because we are not being Rock attitude at all.

We accept for the underground scene and good review with some music press.

Then The single edition of "kasiotekemusik / Kamikaze" will be released from

‘Che Trading / i records’ that I had a close relationship at the time of ‘EXIT’

An article goes on to a melody maker, John Peel who was still alive at the time

played our single and I heard he liked it.

(The Che manager said it was played on the radio, but I wasn’t in London,

so I don't know the truth)

Yes, what I had been doing in experimental music NOVA and EXIT, and friend relationships

was not a waste at all.

There is nothing useless in life. Only various things remain I thank all .

I'm a good boy you know.

Also this song "Northern Light Shiva", I was doing early in Fureasteen.

I changed the lyrics this time.

A cat ‘Myomyo’ that became a member of my family since I returned to Japan.

I had a rose blooming in the small garden of my own home,

And the image of science fiction novel

“The Door into Summer” by Robert A Heinlein,

Overlaid, this song is complete.

The cats of “The Secret of the Cherry Rose" will be linked to the hero's story.
